The drip bags are successfully replacing special filtration devices such as presses, centrifuges and belt filters. The product is a well-drained, and often almost dry, sediment with a lower hydration than after using traditional filtration devices and at a much lower cost of dewatering. Because sediments (usually of high compressibility) are not subjected to high pressures, the filtration proceeds quickly and the filtrate is completely free of suspension. The process of sludge dewatering takes place in two stages: the first stage of dewatering is followed by the gravitational filling of the filter bag, while in the second stage, after the bag has been filled with sludge, further dewatering and drying during layering takes place. During storage in airy or dry places, sediment is obtained even with the consistency of a dry powder after a week of storage. The bags are made of multilayer polypropylene nonwoven with hydrophobic properties. The outer layer of the nonwoven fabric is a mechanical bag protection, the inner one provides effective separation of the solid phase particles at a small pressure difference. The bags can be used individually or multi-filter, filtration sets – stationary, portable or made in the form of filter carts. Individual bags are attached to handles connected to the drains of settling tanks. Replacing the bag requires only unfastening the clamp, tying the bag and fixing the new one in the holder. In filter carts, a maximum of 6 bags are mounted using identical clamping clamps. The filtrate flows to the bag chamber and further to the nozzle outside. The use of filter carts allows easy transport of filled bags to the place where they can continue to be subjected to gravity dewatering. The use of filter carts also allows for a more accurate filling of bags with sludge and better use.
